Cancellation and refunds

Courtesy translation. This English text is provided for your convenience. The legally binding version is the German one: Widerruf und Erstattung. Part A of the German text concerns service contracts with mxw-it and is not relevant to CitedBy.

This policy applies to paid subscriptions to the CitedBy application (www.citedby.de). Our terms of sale also apply.

1. Who your contract partner is

The purchase contract for a subscription is not concluded with mxw-it but with Paddle. Paddle acts as merchant of record, handles payment, invoicing and sales tax, and is therefore also responsible for refunds. mxw-it provides the subscribed service.

In practice this means: you manage invoices and payment methods in the Paddle customer portal, which you reach in your account under "Subscription". You can also cancel and withdraw at any time without logging in, using the buttons "Cancel contracts here" and "Withdraw from contract here" in the footer of every CitedBy page. Paddle decides on a refund under the terms shown to you during the order.

You can still contact us directly at any time. We will pass your request on to Paddle and support it where we can.

2. Cancellation

The subscription runs for an indefinite period and is billed monthly. You can cancel it at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. Until then your access remains fully in place, including recurring audits and notifications.

Cancelling during a billing period does not automatically lead to a pro rata refund for the remaining days. You do not pay beyond the end of the period, but as a rule you do not get a pro rata refund for the period already paid.

How to cancel:

  1. On any CitedBy page, click "Cancel contracts here" in the footer (www.citedby.de/en/cancel). You do not need to log in.
  2. Enter your name, email address, contract, type of cancellation and the desired date, then click "Cancel now".
  3. You immediately receive a confirmation by email with the content of your cancellation and the date and time of receipt.

When logged in, you can also cancel through "Manage or cancel subscription" on the "Subscription" page in the Paddle customer portal. An informal message to kontakt@mxw-it.com is also sufficient.

3. Right of withdrawal for consumers

Consumers generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for contracts concluded at a distance. Because the purchase contract is concluded with Paddle, withdrawal is governed by Paddle's terms; Paddle informs you about this during the order and in the order confirmation.

You can declare your withdrawal using the "Withdraw from contract here" button in the footer of every CitedBy page (www.citedby.de/en/withdraw), without logging in. After you click "Confirm withdrawal" you immediately receive a confirmation of receipt by email with the date and time. We pass the withdrawal on to Paddle.

Please note: for digital services the right of withdrawal can end early if the service began before the end of the withdrawal period with your express consent and you confirmed that you would lose your right of withdrawal as a result. A subscription under which an analysis has already been carried out may be affected by this.

In any case you can also send a declaration of withdrawal to us, informally to kontakt@mxw-it.com. We will pass it on without delay.

4. Refunds

Paddle decides on refunds as the seller. We support a refund in particular if

  • the service could not be provided for a longer period, for example because our application was disrupted,
  • a charge was made even though you had cancelled in time, or
  • a subscription was taken out twice by mistake.

Describe the case to us at kontakt@mxw-it.com with the order or subscription number from your Paddle confirmation. We will get back to you within five working days.

5. What the subscription does not promise

CitedBy checks the visibility of your business in the answers of AI language models and reports on it. These answers are not deterministic: the same question can be answered differently at different times. What is owed is carrying out the audits as agreed and providing the reports, not a particular result, a particular placement or an improvement in your visibility. A lack of success in this sense does not in itself give rise to a claim for a refund.
